Scholarships
Scholarships are monies that you do not have to pay back and are based on criteria such as educational degree/majors, grade point average, or financial need. A variety of scholarships are available to our students. Applying for scholarships is easy. Remember, after every summer semester you will need to reapply.

The CCCC Foundation works with dozens of community donors to offer scholarships and awards to Cerro Coso students just like you with one easy application and more than 50 opportunities for cash awards.
More than $100,000 available in local awards. $30,000 in local STEM scholarships. Check it out!

- Visit the CCCC Office of Financial Aid for one-on-one assistance with applications
- Complete your application online, the link will be available October 1 - February 28
- Each applicant will be screened for every scholarship.

The CCCC Foundation is committed to helping students succeed in college through its scholarship program. Fundraising events are held throughout the year to raise money for scholarships for Cerro Coso students. The amounts awarded are determined by the amounts donated throughout the year. Outside Scholarship Opportunities
There are a variety of outside scholarships that are available to students from various businesses and organizations. The following websites may provide you with helpful information regarding scholarships. Please note, these sites are not part of Cerro Coso Community College; emails to these organizations will not go to Cerro Coso but rather the agency itself. See tab above for the list of currently open outside scholarships that have come to our attention.

Allison Aubin Scholarship for Young WritersThis year, the Eastern Sierra Branch of the California Writers Club (Ridge Writers)
plans to award the Allison Aubin Scholarship for Young Writers to a high school senior
preparing to enter college to study writing. The scholarship is open to students who
will graduate in the year 2025.
Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2025. Amount: $500.
Have you ever wondered where you'd go if you could fly around downtown? Or maybe you daydream of secretly taking over the world - to each his own. For all of those hero lovers and villain enthusiasts, this super scholarship can give you the power to win free college money.
Use your imagination and become the superhero, or perhaps supervillain, you've always
wanted to be. Would you live a life in a comic book universe or use your powers here
in the real world? We want to know how you would use your super powers for good, or
bad, even if it was just for the day.
Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2025. Amount: $2,500.
The purpose of this scholarship is to award financial assistance to students who participate
in activities that provide service to others, maintain a high academic standard, and
show financial need.
Deadline: Friday, April 4, 2025. Amount: Varies.
Deadline: Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Amount: $3,000.
Fifth Month ScholarshipDeadline: Wednesday, May 31, 2025. Amount: $1,500.
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship ProgramAbbott & Fenner are committed to continuing our efforts at helping those who have
the desire and ambition to succeed.
Deadline: Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Amount: $1,000.
The Banyan Scholarship for Clinical Education and Healthcare Professions offers $1,000 worth of grant to support working students in healthcare fields. This
scholarship is open to students pursuing careers in healthcare, including medical,
mental health, addiction treatment, clinical, and social care professions.
Deadline: Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Amount: $1,000.
Mistakes - we've all made them. Too bad life doesn't always give you a mulligan. Or
does it? What if you had the chance to "do-over" a moment in your life? What would
it be? How would it affect you and your future?
Deadline: Monday, June 30, 2025. Amount: $1,500.
Winning scholarships can be sweet - especially with this special a la mode award for
scholarship seekers who love ice cream.
Deadline: Thursday, July 31, 2025. Amount: $1,500.
Scholarships can be fun! Take a break from the boring application routine and make
us laugh. That's right; we want a real LOL moment.
Deadline: Sunday, August 31, 2025. Amount: $1,500.
The RRHF has established the Fred Hawkins Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Memorial
Scholarship in honor of the work Fred has done to support EMT programs across our
city, county, state, and beyond. The Foundation seeks to strengthen and build a better
future for our community through EMT education. One of the challenges facing EMTs
today is the recruitment and retention of EMT practitioners. To address this challenge,
the Foundation is offering scholarship opportunities to individuals interested in
pursuing a career in EMT in our community (defined as encompassing the Cerro Coso
Community college sites).
Deadline: Monday, September 8, 2025. Amount: $1,200.

AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivated
students to help in the furthering of their education.
Deadline: Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Amount: $500.
Did binge-re-watching “The Walking Dead” get you thinking about what you'd do if the
streets were filled with flesh-eating zombies? Maybe you've envisioned your own post-apocalyptic
world overrun with the living dead, forcing you to come up with a zombie survival
plan — and quick! Hone your survival tactics and imagine what your school or college
campus might be like in a zombie apocalypse. Our Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship committee
wants to know your plan to avoid the zombies, where you'd hide, and the top-five things
you'd bring to stay alive. We're giving one successful survivor $2,000 towards his
or her college education. Do you think you have what it takes fallto make the cut?
Deadline: Frisday, October 31, 2025. Amount: $2,000.
The Keenan Insurance Scholarships seek to increase the diversity of professionals
working within the insurance, risk management, and financial services industry by
providing scholarships to underrepresented students at California Community Colleges.
Deadline: Friday, October 31, 2025. Amount: $600/semester.
While continuing your education takes time, and money, there's a certain value that
everyone is hoping to achieve. Our Education Matters Scholarship is giving you the
chance to state why education matters. Why does education matter to you? What is the
value you hope to receive from college? What would you do to convince the college
cynics?
Deadline: Sunday, November 30, 2025. Amount: $5,000.
Allied Van Lines, one of the leading long distance and cross country moving companies
in America, is excited to offer a 2025 scholarship program aimed at students whose
area of study focuses on logistics and moving-related fields. We are committed to
growing our industry and supporting the brightest students in logistics and moving.
Deadline: Monday, December 15, 2025. Amount: $1,000.
Foreclosure.com has issued $72,000 in scholarship money to 40 college students nationwide
since the program was introduced in 2009. Each year, the company challenges future
leaders of America to provide creative solutions/ideas to many of the nation's most
critical issues, real estate in particular, which can be used to help foster a robust
United States housing market.
Deadline: Monday, December 15, 2025. Amount: up to $4,000.
Inspired by David Letterman and his top ten lists, we created the Top Ten List Scholarship.
With so many awards based on grades and extracurricular activities, this unique scholarship
gives you the chance to show us what's truly special and different about you. Get
creative, be serious, or tug at our heart strings. Whatever you do, you only have
ten reasons to convince us, so make each one count.

- Varsity Tutors Monthly Scholarship Description: Varsity Tutors offers a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest to students who write the best essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage will be able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes will be reviewed by Varsity Tutors and one winner will be chosen who will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
