Ridgecrest Chapter CTTC and KAS Meade Biological Sciences Scholarship

The Kerncrest Audubon Society and the Ridgecrest Chapter California Turtle and Tortoise Club have joined together to form one scholarship, now known as the Ridgecrest Chapter CTTC and KAS Meade Biological Sciences Scholarship. The two founding organizations work to protect threatened and endangered species and their habitats, and to promote a greater understanding of the natural world to children and adults. Thus, the purpose of this scholarship is to assist students who intend to pursue degrees in the environmental and biological sciences.

This scholarship is open to

  • Full-time, graduating students (12 units or more)
  • Students attending the Cerro Coso Community College Ridgecrest campus
  • Students having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Those majoring in biological sciences, ecology, forestry or related sciences at a four-year university.

Financial need is the primary consideration in the awarding of this scholarship. Two scholarships shall be awarded each year, both in the Fall. Both will be for $1,000. One shall be awarded to a new student entering Cerro Coso Community College as a first-year student, and the second shall be awarded to a student graduating from Cerro Coso with the intent of pursuing their four-year degree in the specific studies set out herein.

California Turtle and Tortoise Club

California Turtle and Tortoise Club

Since 1964, the California Turtle and Tortoise Club (CTTC) has been promoting and facilitating the care and adoption of native and nonnative turtle species. The Ridgecrest CTTC Chapter has worked in the community to advance awareness and familiarize children and adults alike with the natural world around us. We would like to help support CCCC students interested in the environmental or biological sciences.

Kerncrest Audubon Society

 Kerncrest Audobon Society

The Kerncrest Audubon Society is an educational organization which promotes the protection of wildlife, especially birds, and works to conserve wildlife habitat. This scholarship is possible because of the generous gift made by Bob and Bernice Meade, long-time residents of the Indian Wells Valley, avid birders and active advocates for wildlife.

The CCCC Foundation is committed to helping students succeed in college through its scholarship program.
