The Mammoth Lakes Foundation (MLF) Scholarship program was launched in 2003 to encourage Mono County residents and high school graduates to take advantage of local educational opportunities through Cerro Coso Community College's Mammoth Campus. MLF has awarded more than 750 scholarships since! Support for an individual scholarship ranges from $900 to $1,200 each semester and covers tuition and books.
The MLF Scholarship covers Cerro Coso registration costs (for students not eligible for other aid through FAFSA or EOPS) as well as up to $500 per semester for books and materials for enrolled courses (software excluded). The MLF Scholarship is open to any graduate from a Mono County High School or resident of Mono County (1-year minimum). Students who previously left the state of California must meet the 1-year residency requirement in order to apply.
In addition to financial assistance, the Mammoth Lakes Foundation provides mentoring support and opportunities for students to connect with Dave's Scholar alumni, members of the community, and career professionals to pursue their educational and career interests. Once a month MLF hosts a Scholar Brunch, where we invite community members to share their insights on various topics with our Scholars and check-in on how we can best support them throughout the semester. In recognition of the giving spirit of Dave & Roma McCoy, MLF Scholarship recipients are required to volunteer in the Mammoth community for a cause they are passionate about.
