Canvas is the learning management system that delivers online courses for California Community
Colleges, including Cerro Coso. You will need to access Canvas in order to attend
your class.
Register for an Online Class
Watch the videos on How to Register for Classes. Go to InsideCC, click on MyBanWeb, click on Add or Drop Classes. If you need help, contact Counseling. You cannot access Canvas if you are not registered in a course.
How to Confirm Your Enrollment
You should receive an email from DistanceEd@CerroCoso.edu sent to your email @email.cerrocoso.edu
email address 24 hours after registering. This will be your proof of enrollment. If
you do not receive this email, please check myBanWeb in InsideCC to see if your course is listed.

Things to Do Before the First Day of Class
Find the Start Date of Your Class
The start date of your class is in your confirmation email. Not all courses start
on the same day. OR
Find the semester that you are enrolled in and click the full schedule link.
Find your CRN in the list. The CRN is a five digit number that starts with three,
five or seven.
Locate the term start and date column for your course.
Click on the CRN to get specific start and end dates as well as drop deadlines for
your course.
Don't Get Dropped!
Cerro Coso's drop policy says that if you are registered in an online course, you need to log in and access that course by 8:00 p.m. the first day of class.
If you don't enter your course by 8:00 p.m. the first day of class you will be dropped
and your seat will be given to the next person on the waitlist. If there is an open
seat in the course, you may be able to register again as long as it is before the
end of the first week of class. If there is a waitlist in the course and you register
in the course again, you will be placed at the bottom of the list.
When You Can Access Your Course
You will not be able to access a course that has not been opened.
Courses are opened by noon the Friday before your class starts. For example, if your
class starts on Tuesday, January 19th, the class will open on Friday, January 15th
by noon. Likewise, if your class starts on Monday, March 12th, the class will open
on Friday, March 9th. This should give you plenty of time to log in and access all
of your courses.
If you do get dropped, you are responsible for officially dropping that course. Not attending does not release you from this responsibility.
If you are on the waitlist...
You will not be able to access waitlisted courses until you have been officially enrolled.
If you are on the waitlist for a class and someone has dropped from that class, you
may be removed from the waitlist and then officially enrolled in the course. This
is an automated process.
You will receive email notification when you have been added to the course roster
and the process is completed.
Waitlisted students need to check their college email regularly, especially that first
night of classes.
As soon as you receive the email notification that you have been moved from the waitlist
onto the class roster, access that course.
You have two days to access your course. After that, your instructor can drop you
from the class.
Click on the insideCC link at the top of this page.
Use the single sign on page to log in.
Your username is your complete college email address and your password is the password
that you use to access this email account.
If you cannot remember this information, please use the "Need help signing in" link
to recover your address or reset password. If you still need additional help logging
in, please use the KCCD Help Desk, where you can enter a help desk ticket yourself or find the Help Desk telephone
number to make a request by phone.
After logging into this page, the insideCC portal will open.
Bakersfield College students will see insideBC and Porterville College students will
see insidePC, But these work the same as insideCC.
The black menubar at the top of the page will provide you with the tools to help you
succeed as an online student. This black bar confirms that you are in the insideCC
portal. The insideCC menu bar contains links to myBanweb, myCourses, tools, and your
college email account.
Your college email account is the only place the college will send you important information
like financial aid, registration and technical support communication.
The myBanweb menu at the top of the page gives you the tools to
check your transcripts
edit personal information
access registration tools for checking your registration status and adding and dropping
classes
In the tools dropdown, you will find various tools to help you while you pursue your
education.
Navigate helps you stay on track and plan ahead while you are working towards your
educational goals so that you can balance your life with all of your college requirements.
Make Sure Your Browser is up to Date
The technical requirements for Canvas and the tools within Canvas are simple. Canvas
only supports the latest two releases of Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari. Check your browser and upgrade if necessary.
Click on the insideCC link at the top of this page.
Use the single sign on page to log in.
click on MyCourses orunder Tools, click on Canvas
The MyCourses item links to the All Courses page in Canvas.
The All Courses page shows you all of the Canvas courses you are currently enrolled
in and any future enrollments.
The All Courses page might also include past courses if they are still considered
active.
If you have future enrollments in Canvas, they will appear at the bottom of this screen,
but will not be linked until the course is available, generally on the Friday afternoon
before the start date.
If a course is missing from this page, please confirm your registration in the course.
Then report the problem by contacting the KCCD Help Desk. Make sure to include the CRN of the course, the subject, and the number (so #####
MATH C121). You may also want to send your instructor an email notifying them that you are having
this issue.
Enter all of your courses by clicking on each course link.
Course links become active on or after the Friday before class starts.
You must enter each course individually to be recorded as logged in by 8 p.m. the
first day of class. Just accessing Canvas and the all courses page does not meet the
drop policy requirements.
If you are newly enrolled into a course, it may take up to an hour for your log in
to Canvas to become active.
During the Semester
You must also be active in the course to avoid being dropped by your instructor after
the first day of class. See Cerro Coso's drop policy on the website for more information.
Welcome
Welcome to Cerro Coso. Thank you for registering for a Cerro Coso course. Cerro Coso
is your teaching college.
Your home college is where you are currently enrolled at the time of registration. This is also the
college where you set up an Educational Plan and receive benefits, including financial
aid, counseling, VETS and EOPS support.
How to Confirm Your Enrollment
After registering via the CVC Exchange, you should see your Cerro Coso class in your
home college Canvas instance under All Courses. It may also show up in your Canvas Dashboard, but if it does not, please check under
All Courses. Sometimes the course does not appear on the dashboard until it is opened.
Also, if your home college does not use the same Term schedule as Cerro Coso, your
Cerro Coso course might not show up on your dashboard.
You should also get an email from Kern Community College District (KCCD) with your
Cerro Coso username and student ID. Your username is also your Cerro Coso email address.
You will need to activate your Cerro Coso email within 30 days of registering. See
below for details.

Things to Do Before the First Day of Class
Set Up Your Cerro Coso Email
You will need to activate your Cerro Coso email within 30 days of registering for
your class. If you do not activate your email address within 30 days, you will need
to contact the KCCD Help Desk to initiate activation of your email address. You will need your Cerro Coso email
address to communicate with your instructor outside of Canvas and possibly also to
access some resources within your class, such as embedded library materials.
Activate your account by going to https://uam.kccd.edu and entering your Cerro Coso email address. Enter your date of birth month, day,
year without dashes or slashes in the password field and click next. You will be asked
to create a new password and select and answer your security question.
Once you have done this, check that your email is valid by visiting the Cerro Coso homepage and clicking on InsideCC. If you can login to InsideCC, your email is now valid.
If you cannot, please use the KCCD Help Desk, where you can enter a help desk ticket yourself or find the Help Desk telephone
number to make a request by phone. Mention that you are a CVC student.
Find the Start Date of Your Class
Login to the CVC Exchange.
Go to your class schedule.
The start date will be in the first column before the name of the course.

Make Sure Your Browser is up to Date
The technical requirements for Canvas and the tools within Canvas are simple. Canvas

Make sure to log in and access each of your classes by 8 p.m. the first day so you
don't get dropped.
You can access Cerro Coso courses through your home college's instance of Canvas or
by logging in via the CVC Exchange.
To learn how to log in to your home college's instance of Canvas, please contact your
home college's support team for instructions. Often these instructions are easily
findable on the college website.
Login to the CVC Exchange.
Go to your class schedule.
Under each course there will be a link to your home college's Canvas account.
Simply click on that link and look for the course in your Canvas Dashboard or under
All Courses.
If you have any issues using the CVC Exchange, contact them via the support link on
the bottom right corner of their homepage.
All Courses Page
No matter how you log in, find the All Courses page in Canvas. The CVC link will take
you there directly. Otherwise, the All Courses page is available by clicking on the
Courses link in the vertical global navigation bar in Canvas. Clicking this will load
a callout tray with the All Courses link at the bottom.
Everyone's Canvas should have a Courses icon.
The All Courses page shows you all of the Canvas courses you are currently enrolled
in at every CVC college and any future enrollments. The All Courses page might also
include past courses if they are still considered active. If you have future enrollments
in Canvas, they will appear at the bottom of this screen.
Your Cerro Coso courses can be easily recognized. All Cerro Coso course names begin
with their 5 digit CRN or section number (so ##### MATH C121).
If a course is missing from this page, please confirm your registration in the course
and then report the problem to the teaching college's support team. For Cerro Coso,
that would be the KCCD Help Desk. Make sure to include the section number of the course, the subject, and the number
(so ##### MATH C121).
If this is your first time logging in you just need to make sure you enter all of
your Cerro Coso courses by clicking on each course link.
Course links become active on or after the Friday before class starts.
You must enter each course individually to be recorded as logged in by 8pm the first
day of class. Just accessing Canvas and the All Courses page does not meet the drop policy requirements.
That's how you find your Cerro Coso classes. Make sure to log in and access each of
your courses by 8pm the first day so you don't get dropped.
During the Semester
You must also be active in the course to avoid being dropped by your instructor after
the first day of class. See Cerro Coso's drop policy for more information.
If you experience any difficulty logging into the Inside Portal and accessing Canvas
from the portal, contact KCCD Technical Support. They can help you resolve any login and password issues.
