Military studentCerro Coso Community College proudly provides services to all our military-connected students. The Military and Veterans Services team aids active-duty military, veterans, and their dependents that may be eligible for various military-connected educational benefits. This team helps transition veterans from military to civilian life within the academic environment. Military and Veterans Services houses a dedicated Educational Advisor eager to help students complete their academic goals and a dedicated School Certifying official who serves as a liaison between veteran students/dependents and the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

Cerro Coso Community College is approved by the California State Approving Agency to enroll veterans and other eligible persons. GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.

Cerro Coso Community College is approved under Title 38 of the United States Code. Admissions, registration, and course offering are consistent with Title 38 U.S.C. §3679(e). Eligibility for educational benefits is determined through an application process by the Veterans Administration (VA). Students are responsible for applying for their benefits and reporting the correct benefit to the college. 

Benefits payable through the VA are determined by your term of service in the military. The Montgomery G.I. Bill® (Ch. 30) and the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill® (Ch. 33) are offered for veterans. Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E, Ch. 31) is available to disabled veterans and requires a referral from a qualified CR&E counselor. Dependents of veterans may be eligible for the Dependents Education Assistance® (Ch. 35) benefit if the veteran meets one of these criteria, as determined by the VA:

  • Is permanently and totally disabled due to a service-connected disability
  • Died while on active duty or as a result of a service-connected disability

Students in reserve status (Ch. 1606/1607) may qualify for reimbursement for a portion of their educational costs.
