  22. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES—Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to

    1. Develop competive baseball skills through high intensity practice sessions.
    2. Employ fitness strategies to improve cardio-vascular fitness to the level required to compete in advanced level competition.
    3. Discuss the offensive and defensive strategy consistent with collegiate competition
    4. Analyze his/her individual baseball and strategy skill/weaknesses, and through active participation in the class, have those deficiencies remediated consistent with advanced level of play.

    Lecture:

    a.         Review of necessary rules and regulations required for collegiate competition.

    b.         Review basic baseball techniques.

    (2)        Fielding

    (3)        Throwing

    (4)        Base running

    (5)        Pitching

    (6)        Catching

    c.         Review intermediate baseball skills.

    (1)        Offensive techniques and tactics

    (2)        Defensive techniques and tactics

    (a)        Bunting, short game

    (b)        Stealing, sliding

    (c)        Basic fundamentals (offense/defense)

    d.         Introduction of advanced drills to bring baseball skills to a level requisite for competitive                             play.

    e.         Introduction of the offensive game strategies necessary for advanced baseball competition.

    f.          Introduction of defensive game strategies necessary for advanced baseball.

    g.         Discussion of appropriate conduct required of participants in competitive play.
